Mount Edgecombe
Completed 2004 - 3 million

When this newly married couple chose their site in the prestigious Mount Edgecombe Estate, the utmost research, care and attention to derail went into planning their future home. They wanted a classical home that would not date, as well as room for a future family and excellent entertaining areas. They presented their architect with a five-page wish-list. He was as enthusiastic as they were and made many suggestions that would improve the end result even further.

Perched near the top of a steep hill the home, enjoys uninterrupted views of the golf course, whilst affording its owners the utmost privacy. The architecture is in the classic Mount Edgecombe style – with a steep-pitched green-tiled roof, deep-shaded veranda, and muted natural finishes, highlighted with panels of rosy brickwork. Also on the home owners wish list was the inclusion of a grand entrance and interesting levels. A wide, whitepainted-timber, picot door leads into an entrance hall landing with a huge arched window looking out over the estate. Interesting levels were created by the use of a staircase that descends to the living and entertaining areas, and a short flight of stairs ascending to the tastefully-appointed three en-suite bedrooms. The groundfloor landing has an entrance into the double-garage, from where there is a further flight of stairs that ascends to the kitchen and walk-in pantry.

Downstairs living and entertainment areas are superb- with TV-room, kitchen, pub, and formal sitting room flowing out to a large timber deck, complete with outdoor lounge, dining and cooking spaces, sparkling infinity pool and bubbling spa-bath. The kitchen comprises cabinetry in Maple wood and Rustenberg granite countertops – perfect for these home owners who are both enthusiastic amateur chefs. The dining room has been designed for cosy and elegant fine dining – it resembles a cellar with timber beams and timber inlays set in the tinted concrete floor. Artwork from Venice adorns the walls and leading off the dining room, is a large cool wine cellar, complete with vaulted ceilings, allowing the couple to indulge their passion for collecting good wine.

The home owners are thrilled with their new home – it has everything on their wish list – and even more!
